FILM DISTRIBUTION

We focus on distribution today using the BFI site on digital distribution HERE
In the week following the lesson, you will produce 6 items for this module:
  • posts for your blog (gaining marks for research and planning) about distribution
  • Facebook and Twitter for your film
  • Poster for your film
  • 'Website' page for your film
  • Evaluation question 5 ATTRACTING & ADDRESSING OUR AUDIENCE in SlideShare
You will also have necessary information for your exam on the film industry.

I suggest that you copy and paste the bullet points above into your blog and write something like " In order to attract and address our audience, we / I plan to devise a number of products that distributors take responsibility for
  •  a Facebook and Twitter page for our film
  • a poster ..."

DISRIBUTION: So what is distribution? We studied this by looking at how the BFI have supported digital distribution.
Today we spent a lot of time investigating distribution which is a key element in the chain between the film’s production and its audience. Distributors use a spread of means to gain traction and build awareness, such as digital media:

·         Film website

·         Trailers on the website

·         Facebook

·         Twitter
·         Aurasma (linking print with online trailers)
Distributors also use print advertising:
·         P+A includes poster campaigns
·         Interviews in newspapers
·         Campaigns in free papers like Metro
Trailers and other media
·         10 second spot TV campaigns
·         30 second TV campaigns
·         Cinema traikers
·         Screenings
·         Tv radio interviews
·         They also set up distribution for DVD rights and exhibition rights
